Prices (for kits designed to order) start at £150 for a design measuring 12" square.
Barbara Bernard custom-designed house portrait kits include:
· The design clearly hand-painted onto an ample square of white 10 count interlock canvas
· A graph printed in colour of the design for reference with a colour key
· 2 tapestry needles
· Appletons Crewel wool in sufficient quantities of each colour to work the design (using three strands and working in cross stitch)*
· Simple to follow instructions.
* I recommend working my kits in cross-stitch rather than tent stitch or half-cross-stitch because it produces a crisper image which suits my usual architectural subject matter. Cross-stitch also does not distort the canvas as much as conventional tent stitch.
I use 3 strands of crewel wool instead of tapestry wool because sometimes it is possible to introduce a textural, "tweed-like" effect by threading the needle with two different shades of a colour.
If you would rather work in tent-stitch, I can adjust the wool quantities and provide altered instructions.
